My Story

Birthed from generations of artists — it seems that creation has been woven into the thread of my existence.

Growing up I experienced my grandparent's creating art through the mediums of weaving and landscape architecting — and my mother through the mediums of painting, felting, weaving, sketching, and many others.

My entire life has early on been grounded in art of various variety.

One of my favorite memories to this day is of my mom and me. At the time I was around 6 or 7. We weren’t residing in an optimum living situation, actually quite the opposite. We lived in an empty storage building full of old dishwasher parts and pieces which is now home to an auto repair shop.

No heating or modern-day comforts.

Out of this space I got to witness my mom teach art classes to children and adults alike due to the fact that I was homeschooled at the time.

I learned how to rethread the loom she wove on and helped her with many of her macramé projects.

She would buy these wooden frames that we would wrap in yarn and macro-weave.

Within my first mini business I sold macramé bracelets and necklaces in the library my mom worked in as well as within my homeschooling groups.

A foreshadowing for what was to come.

I've always known that I wanted to have my own business. So, when I was 8 months into my pregnancy, I gave birth to Meraki Home Design Studio and stepped out of my 9-5 role. What started in a closet of my town home has continued to grow into what it is today.

Before starting this business, I hadn't picked up Macramé since middle school and it has felt like a coming home to the person I was always meant to be.

In 2015, my mom passed from pancreatic cancer and through continuing to create the art that she passed down to me I feel that I'm continuing to keep the best parts of her alive in my present experience.
Getting to recreate the feelings of the moments my mom and I spent making art gives such a deeper meaning to my business.

My creations are more than just art. They weave together the story of my life — past, present and future.

This journey has been and continues to be painful, beautiful and freeing.

It is my hope to pass this gift down to my own daughter one day and to spend the rest of my life creating freedom for my family by being of service to my community through operating in my gift.

Thank you for your interest, support and for being here.

From my heart to your home.
